Myths of Magical Gods
The Master of Blue Waters: Hapi
Because the Nile was the most important thing in their lives, they imagined a special god for it named Hapi. Hapi was a strong, plump god, and they always painted him blue or green to match the color of the Nile's water and plants. They drew him carrying a massive tray filled with the river's wonderful treasures, like shiny silver fish, Nile birds, beautiful lotus flowers, and bundles of wheat. They sang happy songs to him to keep him pleased, hoping he would bring a giant flood packed with goodness to feed everyone!
