The Hero of the Pen and Inkwell: The Egyptian Scribe

In ancient Egypt, not everyone got to go to school, so someone who knew how to read and write was a very important and respected person called a Scribe. The scribe would sit quietly with his legs crossed, holding a scroll of Papyrus in one hand and a small brush made of wood in the other. He always carried a small palette called an inkwell, which held black and red ink. Thanks to these clever scribes who recorded everything from counting cows to tales of kings, we now know every wonderful detail about how the Pharaohs lived!
