From the tall, green reeds that grow wildly on the banks of the Nile River, the Egyptians made the oldest flute in history! It was a long, thin wooden tube with tiny holes carved at perfect distances. Little shepherds would sit under the shade of tall palm trees and blow into this flute to entertain their sheep and cows with happy, playful tunes. The flute's sound flew through the air like a singing bird, making all of nature sing along with it.
