The Magic Nile River, The Artery of Life
The Rich Black Land: Kemet
The ancient Egyptians didn't call their country "Egypt" at first; they gave it a very cool name: "Kemet," which means the "Black Land"! They named it this because of the rich black mud the Nile left behind after the flood. They loved this color because it meant goodness, farming, and life, while they called the dry desert around them the "Red Land." Thanks to this magical black land, they were able to grow yummy wheat to make bread, and flax to make the soft clothes they loved.
