Pharaonic Inventions We Use Today
The Wooden Treasure Guards: Locks and Keys
How did the Pharaohs protect their toy boxes and treasures from thieves? They invented the very first lock and key in the world! But their keys weren't small and metallic like the ones we use today to open our front doors. Their keys were huge, made of wood, and looked a lot like a giant hairbrush with sticking-out wooden teeth. When they slid this giant key into the lock on a door or a chest, the wooden teeth matched perfectly with secret holes inside the lock, instantly opening the door like magic!
