Pharaonic Inventions We Use Today
The Map of Days and Seasons: The Calendar
How do we know when summer starts, or when it's time to go back to school? We use the calendar hanging on the wall! The Pharaohs were the first to cleverly watch the stars and divide the year into 365 days and 12 months, exactly like we do today. They watched a bright star called Sirius and the Nile River to know exactly when the water would flood and when it was time to plant and harvest crops. They made this time map to organize their lives and celebrate their festivals at the perfect times.
