Stone Wonders that Touch the Sky

The Queen's Balconies in the Mountain's Embrace: Deir el-Bahari

Queen Hatshepsut didn't want to build a normal temple like the other kings; she wanted a masterpiece like no other! So, she picked a breathtaking spot hugging a massive rocky mountain and built her temple to look like three wide balconies layered on top of each other, connected by super long and wide stairs. In the past, these balconies were planted with rare incense trees brought from faraway lands, making the temple look like a slice of a green paradise growing right out of the harsh mountain rocks!
