The Great-Grandfather of the Guitar: The Pharaonic Oud
Do you love playing the guitar and the awesome sounds it makes? The Pharaohs had an instrument that looked just like it and is considered its great-grandfather! It had an oval wooden box shaped like a pear, with a very long, thin neck stretching upwards. It had strong strings pulled tight, and musicians used it to play fast, cheerful melodies at special royal parties. It was an incredibly elegant instrument that showed off their excellent taste in musical shapes and sounds.
