Makers of Flexible Paper: Papyrus Workers

Have you ever imagined making your own paper out of garden plants? Papyrus workers did this every single day! They would stand in the waters of the Nile to cut tall Papyrus stems, then peel them into super thin strips. They laid the strips crisscross on top of each other like a net, and then hammered them with a wooden mallet so the plant's natural juices glued them together into one piece. Finally, they placed them under a heavy stone to dry, turning them into strong, smooth paper ready for scribes to write the greatest stories on.
