The Magic Nile River, The Artery of Life

The Great Flood: The River's Gift

Did you know that ancient Egypt would have been just a dry, yellow desert if it weren't for the Nile River? Every year in the summer, the river filled up with lots of water from faraway lands and flooded the nearby fields. This flood wasn't scary at all; it was a magical gift because it left behind soft, rich black mud that made the land perfect for growing the tastiest fruits and vegetables! The Pharaohs loved this flood so much that they threw huge parties for it, singing happy songs to it as if it were their best friend!
